Pageant Packing Checklist

12, August 2013

Ironically enough, as I was writing this article, I was in the process of packing; although the packing criterion for my escapade was restrictive, which is no fun. I am a diva and a bit high maintenance when it comes to packing, do I have any compatriots? I know, it’s hard, you would rather be safe than sorry. However, the average hotel room is not equipped with the capacity to house all of our precious “must haves.” So we here at Pageant Planet want to help you put on your practical hat and see what you truly need, what you don’t and how to pack it all.

Packing can make you feel very anxious. I am right there with you, but as we often say on Pageant Planet, preparation and organization can make all of that stress disappear. Therefore, the painless cure to this issue is to get organized. I promise, with this step by step to do list, you will be on your way to a stress-free pageant week!

Pageant Packing Checklist

My suggestion is that when you pack each of your competition items that you pack those items together so that you can quickly grab the bag and make the necessarily changes throughout competition. This will also keep you organized and help you not to forget anything in your room.

Food

Regardless of what your director says do not take their word for it that there will be healthy food for you leading up to the competition. I often find it humorous what the mass public considers "healthy". More than likely you're on a specific diet from your trainer and if that's the case you've got to take your destiny into your own hands and come prepared.

  • Protein bars
  • Rice Cakes
  • Bottles of Water
  • Oatmeal
  • Pre-made meals that you put in Tupperware, store in the mini-fridge and then heat up in the microwave.

Clothes

Girls like Olivia Jordan and Nina Sanchez packed and label each of the wardrobe pieces before going to Miss USA. They both knew every outfit that they were going to wear before getting to the host hotel. Follow their lead. Even if you don't put everything in oversized zip locked bags you can take photos of each outfit and accessories then store and label it on your phone for quick reference.

  • Rehearsal Clothes
  • Dinner Outfits
  • Appearance Outfits
  • Travel Clothes
  • Workout Clothes
  • Hotel Room Lounge Wear
  • Hair and Makeup Clothes
